Startup incubator cum Centre of Excellence
Over the years, the government of Haryana has put forward great efforts for encouraging youngsters to start a business instead of seeking jobs. One such successful effort introduced by the Department of Higher Education (DHE) was opening Startup incubators across Haryana starting the year 2017. As of today, there are startup incubators located in 5 districts like Panchkula, Karnal, Hisar, Faridabad and Gurugram that have access to over 100,000 students studying at government colleges in Haryana.
Achievements, Impact & outcomes
These incubators have catalysed the students at grassroots, creating 170 startups in sectors like Art & craft, FMCG, Retail, technology and agriculture, employing over 500 people, positively impacting their livelihood. Proudly in 2022, they have collectively generated a revenue of nearly 7 Crore rupees. In the year 2022, these incubators conducted nearly 270 mentor sessions with the incubated startups. Also nearly 54000 students have been sensitised with awareness sessions to choose entrepreneurship as a career while still studying at their colleges. Our initiative has been able to create a positive impact by bringing women to the mainstream. Nearly 50% of the founders who run the startups incubated by us are women.
Strategies Adopted
The operating strategy followed by our startup incubators starts with mass entrepreneurship awareness thereafter incubating filtered applicants. After giving the push to start, their startups are accelerated with mentorship, market launch and financing support among others for free.
